The absence of connectivity is not merely a technological barrier, but one that affects access to healthcare, education, social services, work, and participation in the global and local economies.

The power of connectivity lies within the expertise found in everyone of us, communications engineers, so we can help to solve this situation.

Having said that, the organizers decided to make a deadline extension (originally set it for the end of June)

Submission Timeline

First round submissions to share the basic proposed plan and budget will be accepted until 15 July 2024. Applicants with the strongest initial submissions will then be invited to submit a full proposal within two weeks of the first round of review for the further evaluation of their proposed solution.

Term of funding: Up to 6 months

How It Works:

  • Teams from around the world will submit project proposals identifying a locality where internet connectivity is needed, and how local ComSoc members and peers will create, plan, and implement the connectivity. Teams must work with their local ComSoc chapter leaders.
  • 2 projects from each Region to be selected to be funded and implemented. Regions are defined as:
    • North America
    • Europe, Middle East, Africa
    • Latin America
    • Asia Pacific
  • Each selected project will receive up to US$12,000 to implement and sustain the project.
  • Teams will train local partners to maintain and sustain the project.

Now that you know the basics, we encourage you to submit your work and help us all to achieve this goal.
