The IEEE Communications Society Latin America Region is pleased to announce the recipients of two of its 2026 Regional Awards, recognizing outstanding service, leadership, and contributions to the IEEE ComSoc community in Latin America.

Héctor Poveda, from the IEEE Panama Section ComSoc Chapter, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 IEEE ComSoc Latin America Region Distinguished Service Award. This recognition highlights his outstanding dedication and sustained service to the Communications Society and its community in the region.

Fernando Arias, also from the IEEE Panama Section ComSoc Chapter, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 IEEE ComSoc Latin America Region Young Professional Award, recognizing his contributions, leadership, and active engagement as a young professional within IEEE ComSoc.

These awards reflect the important role that committed volunteers and emerging leaders play in strengthening the IEEE Communications Society and fostering an active and collaborative communications community across Latin America.

IEEE ComSoc Latin America Region congratulates Héctor Poveda and Fernando Arias on these well-deserved recognitions and thanks them for their continued dedication and contributions to our community.

Their achievements also highlight the strong engagement of the IEEE Panama Section ComSoc Chapter and its members within the Latin America Region.
